I love starting my morning off with something humorous, even just a sarcastic comment or witty remark can help put me in a good mood for the day, that's why I have my Urban Dictionary word of the day email, and The Office page a day desk calendar. But despite these, this morning it all came from the transcripts of the Charlie Sheen rants from the weekend.
"I have cleansed myself. I closed my eyes and in a nanosecond, I cured myself… It’s the work of sissies. The only thing I’m addicted to is winning. This bootleg cult, arrogantly referred to as Alcoholics Anonymous, reports a 5 percent success rate. My success rate is 100 percent" lolololololol and of course the other:
"I'm on a drug. It's called Charlie Sheen".

Stretching My Dollaz
I have always been an incredibly stingy saver of money. I used to live off of $80 a month after rent when I first moved to San Diego. (How did I do that?!) I always felt like I would need money for the "next step", even if I couldn't see it or know what was around the bend, but I was always terrified of being given an opportunity of something that I wouldn't be able to pay for. Now I make much, much more than that, but in New York City, saving anything is close to impossible, and even the necessities necessitate almost all I make. So while I can only scrimp saving meager amounts from the bottom of the barrel, I've definitely seen that God continues to provide for me always. I pay my rent, I buy groceries, I get to go out with friends, I have a work and play clothes, I furnished my place and have some nice things and I don't know... it's just nice to be content with the simple life. For once i've decided I'm not going to be furiously stingy but instead relax and play in this stage of life, because I love New York City and the life I'm building here.
In light of this, I went out last night with Jayna to go to our coworkers' band's show in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and hung out afterwards. Tonight I'm having family dinner with Ronnie, Betsy and Casey, and though I was saving the rest of my bank account for my electricity bill, I found out it wasn't due until after my next paycheck, so I treated myself to a manicure and pedicure from the nail salon downstairs. It's a beautiful, clear day and it's warming up. Life is good.

Wakey, Wakey
I slept in a lot today. But after finally getting up, I was able to Zumba my way into a state of alertness (um, 20 minutes was enough for me too, geez that thing is killer) now I've got my coffee and going to spend a cold winter day indoors completely revolutionizing my apartment. How did I come with only 2 suitcases of clothes and now my entire place is crammed and cluttered?? I'm working on rearranging with all the new furniture I have, cleaning, and maybe later on some laundry. I love the days when I'm actually in the mood to clean and get stuff done!
Also, I never did post picture of my beautiful roses I received on Valentine's Day.

These were the flowers at my desk

It's actually like, sixteen

And when I finally brought them home.
Okay. Off to clean now.

Chowder Powder
We lost cute little Chowder (WOULD I?!) over the weekend. My favorite memory of Chowder was when I was holding him facing me and poking his chest, and he actually boxed my face! It was this incredible, swatting the sides of my head a few times before jumping out of my arms that I had never seen before, but it was so cute (minus his agony at my annoying him).

And through all of this we have to wonder: BELLE, HOW ARE YOU STILL GOING?! My little baby is 19 and still going strong, even though everyone else around her seems to drop like flies. Keep on keeping on, Binks. Chowder... we miss you :'(

ZUMBA
My goal of continuing to be physically active throughout the winter is only taking shape now... at the end of February. Way to go, self. Well better late than never. I now own a gazillion DVD's of Zumba workouts, including the toning sticks. I am SO EXCITED to get this off the ground. Everyone, prepare yourselves for Kristin's upcoming washboard abs. And thank you thank you thank you Aunt Patricia!

The Way to Boston
I kept forgetting it was a three day weekend. On Friday night a friend of mine suggested I come on up to Boston, so I found a last minute ticket on a bus and got a one-way, since I seem to go to Boston so often now I can't bring myself to buy the train ticket, which costs triple.
Did you know that Boston can be so significantly colder than New York City that we had to spend the majority of the weekend indoors? I don't think I had ever been so cold before, just walking a few blocks to get Starbucks with the wind made my face feel like it had frostbite and I had to duck into doorways to take a break because it was SO COLD. I can't even describe it. But it was my first time in Chinatown in Boston, so I still got to see something new.
Today when I decided to finally buy my ticket back, I just could not justify the extra amount for the train, so I bought another bus ticket, and I am on the bus now, I'm somewhere in Connecticut or Rhode Island, and considering the buses are charter, and have outlets and WiFi and bathrooms, they're really not all that bad, and considerably cheaper. My only problem is that on road trips now I can't sing out loud like I used to do in the car. But I can't do that on the train either.
